Poetess Solo Series: Omar Khayyam and the Women of Verse and Wine
This series gathers the great voices of our literary inheritance. Poetesses, mystics, queens, and firekeepers of language, each rendered in intimate miniature on silk-thin manuscript pages where traces of old writing whisper beneath the paint. Every portrait is small, deliberate, and jewel-like, echoing the way these figures shaped empires with syllables and the gentle force of their pens, where others did so with armies and monuments.
Here stand Mastura Kurdi, Zeeb-un-Nisa, Nodira of Kokand, Walladah bint al-Mustakfī, and Mahsati Ganjavi; women who navigated courts, wars, betrayals, and longing with the fluency of those born to remake their world. Alongside them stand Omar Khayyam, the philosopher of wine and wonder, posing boastfully like a Persian prince; alongside ethereal Hafiz-inspired renderings, twin keepers of mirrored flame. Each figure holds space alone, yet together they form a constellation: a gathering of poets whose verses once traveled across borders, across centuries, across forbidden rooms, until they became part of the great cultural bloodstream of the Muslim world.
The silk pages -- translucent, bearing ghost-lines of forgotten text -- suggest that every poet writes upon the memory of another. These works honor that lineage: the solitary artist, yes, but also the unseen chorus behind her. A tribute to voices that sang softly, yet altered the course of history with the sharp, luminous courage of their words.
Original miniature portraits (Origin: Bukhara), framed in double-glass frames (front and back viewable) to preserve both pigment and light.
