The Noura Chandelier

Picture this: a warm parlor in 1920s Cairo in which a congregation of learned women gather amid strewn books, literary journals, and handwritten notes. Discussing literature, religion, politics of the day. Nothing was off limits in this turn-of-the-twentieth century tradition, heralded by such visionaries as Mai Ziadeh, Huda Sha’arawi and Princess Nazli Fazil. Such is the imagery our vintage Noura Chandelier inspires; so named after one of Chouqduff’s co-founders, an avid aficionado and collector herself of the written word.⁠⁠
⁠From an assembly of dangling, hand-holding crystals sprout narrow cylinders etched with finely drawn ivy and flowers, brought together by a welcoming bronze rod. Like the concept of a Literary Salon, our Noura Chandelier has many essentially European attributes, but only as a transplant to the meeting of worlds that exists nowhere but in that nook where the Mediterennean flirts with the Red Sea does it truly flourish. —The Noura Chandelier :: نجفة نورا
