Throne of the Beloved

Designed by Egyptian artisans, this armchair was first created in the style of an erstwhile throne that was happened upon in 𝘡𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘦𝘬. The throne has since been reimagined as a contemporary armchair that pays homage to regional architecture—namely, the 𝘮𝘢𝘴𝘩𝘳𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘺𝘢𝘴 once prevalent on either side of the Red Sea—and to the bygone aristocracy of the neighborhood in which it was found. ⁠⁣⁠⁠
Tirelessly turned on a lathe, the latticework of this chair was configured in the geometric 𝘉𝘢𝘨𝘩𝘥𝘢𝘥𝘪 fashion. And though the original was in a regal chestnut tone, the contemporary answer was varnished in cream then distressed, hoisted on a base wide enough for an armchair monarch to cross his legs, and finished with cushions draped in Egyptian linen. The footrest was the artisans’ later addendum to ensure full comfort.⁠⁣⁠⁣⁠⁠
